How do I turn on old style numerals for an OpenType font (OTF)?

You don't. Xara products do not as of yet support OT features.
Well they have something to work on for version 12.
A workaround that comes into my mind is to typeset using XeLaTeX, a typesetting system basically compatible with LaTeX and with good support for OTF. Then I could import the generated PDF into Xara. Fortunately, it wouldn't be a lot of text: It's for a book cover.
Other suggestions are welcome.
Good luck. In the past, when I have needed OT features inside XDP, I have had to set it in CorelDraw and convert to curves to retain, in my case, swash characters.
I don't do this often because of this problem and just set text with other assets I have made in XDP using a layout application.
Are the characters visible in Character Map? If so can you copy and paste from Character Map into Xara?
I am moving this to Dear Xara as it is more of a feature request (Mike and I have been asking for this for some time and we are hoping for next version as well).

The character map for the font, Skolar, is very long, and I didn't find them in there.
I tried copy and pasting them from a PDF created with XeLaTeX, and they pasted as ordinary figures. So I assume that an old style figure shares a spot in the character map with the corresponding ordinary figure. If so can you copy and paste from Character Map into Xara?
Great looking font. Xara Developers - This is why we need this support. OK?
