    Default colorblind webdesign

I just post a list of programs that might be helpfull to check to see how your design
can be percieved by several types of colorblind people.
(Or if you are colorblind, to get a better view of the design, like a plugin for firefox)
The list comes from this site
    http://www.kleurenblindheid.nl/kleuren/software.shtml
but that is in dutch so I just show the list here.
Some are for windows and MAC, some just for one of the flavors.
Some are free, share/donateware, try before you buy etc.

Hope that this can be usefull to some of the designers
or even for the colorblind themselves

Interesting links. What percentage of the population do you think are color blind?

    Very Interesting.

Gary. 20% of all men are red-green colour blind. According to a New Scientist article I read many years ago that may be an adaptation for hunting in twilight as they seem to be more sensitive to contrast. I am one of those 20% though I haven't had to test my hunting prowess

Thanks for that. It seems that my figures were out of date. It's only 7-10% of males are red green colour blind.......I feel even more special now :-)

Remember the episode from the series X-files where the colorblind in a community
were the only ones not affected by mind altering TV patterns.
    That gave me hope.

And now we know why females think that a lot of men have no
fashion sense. Look ladies, a lot of us are colorblind

(Besides that, some colorblind can more easily see camouflage netting.
because the colors are there to throw you of, to these colorblind, they
    are not there.
Can you imagine what advantage that would have been when hunting in
the old days, the animals camouflage colors would be ineffective to them.
While women gathered fruits and such, so they needed the colors even more.
(Okay I just made this up, but it makes sense to me )

Makes a lot of sense. Actually there is a theory that Mankind was colour blind originally and that 'full' colour vision is a fairly modern thing. A number of people have pointed out for instance that colour appears in Classical Greek poetry much less than would be expected when in other areas it is so expressive. The "wine dark sea" metaphor would have been more colourful if Homer [or whoever it was] had a greater range
