Default Keeping grouped text as text in HTML instead of an image

Damn, I've forgotten the command (name) you give to text in a group to keep it exporting as text and not a bitmap. Can anyone remember?

    Oh wait, found it: HTMLText

I'll post this anyway for future reference.

Yes. That was originally revealed by Charles Moir in this thread. Great tip indeed.

How can you know if xara exported the text as text? I do the directions to
create my text as text or I should say change it to text with the HTMLtext
being "added" using "utilities" . There is no "apply" and I do notice that afterward I do a save. and go back and highlight with the Text tool. The words HTMLtext will show up, so I am assuming this has been made text.
    But two things:
One i do not see the text in the html version. even tho it was added etc.

Two, I just had a two day prob. where I had a couple hundred word text box
and just could not get it to export or preview( which seem to use the same type of processing), to work. It kept just taking forever. I waited an hour and finally had to reopen the xara app. I finally just created a new text area and
exported it as a image. I had to get some new info up to the site.

the page I talking about is from the first page of meganfoxshrine.com
then the upper menu bar choose "latest story" this links to a file named
    "latest.htm"

that was a monster of , "I cant fig this out"

first i thought it was a video, embeding. but no it was the HTMLtext adding

even when I put a one line caption which I added the HTMLtext utility to it
the page would not preview or export to webpage/html.

I may put a help ticket in

    but thought Id write.

    you guys, girls
teach me , like , everything

    thanks

The text is grouped, does this mean I can use non-standard fonts that will not be defaulted if the user hasn't got them installed and will it be readable by Google etc even though it's grouped?

No.. The user still needs to have the font. So stick to web safe fonts.

Yes Google can read the text because it's text. This trick just forces XWD and X5 to output text rather than bitmap.

Note that the text (to which you assign an HTMLtext name) doesn't have to be grouped with any other objects. You can group a single line/paragraph of text by itself.

Although I can't think of a use for doing so (yet) this is true, but you must assign the name HTMLText *before* grouping the text (to itself) otherwise the text will still be rendered as an image.

I think I know what I did incorrect now.
I was making rectangles the size I would need and then typing in.

    I think I got a clearer picture.

    thanks
