    The only thing being, a Roman Numeral starting with 'X', the endings are 'I', 'V', 'X', 'C'. If my math is correct?!

    So, I'll leave it open to the others to comment on the use of Roman Numerals.
    You missed L.

    If they are in, you will have the following (font colour white, so highlight to view):

    {I, IV, V, VI, IX, X, XI, XIV, XV, XL, XLV, L, LI, LV, LX, LXI, LXV, XC, XCI, XCIV, XCV, C}

    You could then introduce D (1,000).

    I therefore don't think they contribute to a list of meaningful "words".
    I would reject all Roman "numerals".

    If we are going to reject Roman Numerals, then the red highlighted reason, would be my reason for rejecting them.

    If no-one else objects, within a day or so, then we need to reject Gorgon's entry.
    Sorry, Gorgon. But, I think you suspected it, anyway!

    Sorry Acorn - D=500: M=1000

    I agree, Roman numerals aren't meaningful words and should not be allowed. Although we could start another challenge on the number of words we can make from Roman numerals ...

    According to the thread’s official dictionary, a word is “a distinct meaningful element of speech or writing used with others (or sometimes alone) to form a sentence and typically shown with a space on either side when written or printed.”
    Roman numerals are meaningful words within this definition. They look odd when written, but we have no difficulty in understanding or pronouncing them: The Patriots won Superbowl XLIX; Charles Windsor’s mum is Queen Elizabeth II and early drafts show that Chuck Berry worked on a song to be called “Sweet Little XVI”.
    If forum users wish them to be excluded, then we need to add a new rule. I propose “words based on the ancient Etruscan numeral system are not allowed.” That should do it.

    By that reasoning though 42 is also a word.

    Keith, our lexicon does not have numerals.
    Mind you, the the meaning of 42 is as big as the universe.
