The cotton looks nice but it is kinda hard to tell if it has that fluffy cotton feel to it being on a white background. Just my thought of course.

I like the cotton effect, have you tried adjusting the profile sliders on the fill? that may give you the contrast you are looking for. Another method is to clone the cottony text and adjust the fill colours slightly then use a fractal plasma transparency to blend the two layers.
