Xara3D 6 not working for me

I'm running windows 7 and I have it both on windows 7 and XP too and they both fail me on both of it.

Sorry to say it.. But unless you have installed from a corrupt setup file on both PC's this can only be operator error.
As has been said, you can only 'Save as..' the .x3d file type, it is only possible to 'Export as' another file type. So if you are pressing 'Save as' and then manually typing the .gif extension in the name dialogue, this is the wrong procedure.

I'm still on windows XP

If I 'save as' [or 'save'] and force a gif type [eg 'test.gif'] I do not get these error messages - I get a file that windows XP thinks is a gif, but it isn't its an x3d file [you can easily open it in Xara 3D by right clicking and 'open with']

So I think the suggestion something is wrong in the system holds - I wonder if the advanced systemcare pro is on both?

Probably a stupid suggestion but have you run the program as Administrator.

Additionally can you post the X3D file here so that we can try it.

2, I have saved it as "save as..." and it doesn't let me save as a file I wanted it to.

I guess that is a confirmation that is does not let me save as a different file.
