    Thanks Curt.

Found it, with your direction, and bought the upgrade.

If I hit 'Send', it gets sent, then the program folds. If I hit continue, it folds as soon as I try to do anything. I'm wondering if re-downloading it would help - maybe it got corrupted on the way?

I've tried downloading it to my other laptop, but when I try to open the .exe file to install it, it tells me Xara Web Designer is already installed, referring to 5.

Confused? I certainly am! I've checked and double checked, but the download is definitely 6.
    Same problem here.

    What's the fix?

Best bet is to contact Xara support with as many details as you can.

Default Re: Xara Web Designer 6 Question...please help

    First..GREAT update (ver. 6)
Need help with an issue. I have been using Xara products for over 5 years maybe longer.
I have noticed with Xara Xtreme5 as well as WD5 and now WD6, when I launch the program,
a window pops up asking if I want to register the program for .WEB.
When I click yes, another window pops-up telling me unable to create this file assoc. because I do not have sufficient privileges and have to be an administrator.
I am the administrator of the computer and the only one that uses it.
Can someone tell what I am missing here to create the .WEB association for these programs?

    Thanks,
    Mike P

Right-click the shortcut icon and select 'Run as Administrator' and try again.

Thought this should not be necessary if as you say you are logged in as admin. Though the message you posted suggests you are not?

I see my name and under that is say Administrator.
    I never use a password when I start-up a new computer.
So, I created a password for my name/administrator.
I clicked on the icon the admin window came up,
I checked admin entered the new and only password and not valid.
I am guessing I have to go into the system in safe mode and create a password,
    correct?
    Thanks,
    Mike P

Sorry, I thought we were talking about running Xara software and setting the .web file program association.

As mentioned previously, right click the shortcut and select 'Run as Administrator'
    Then try again.
This should allow the correct access permission to let the Xara application write the file association information to the Windows registry.

If you are now having Windows user profile problems, please post in the 'Off Topic Chat' forum.

Yes sir, I did. I went ahead and created a new admin account.
I will restart and go into safe mode and see what I can see.
    Thanks for your quick reply.
