Nicely added finishing touches, Derek.
I thought the image attached to the the orignal posting was fine enough to be called "done." This latest graphic submission is exquisite. Thanks for sharing.

That's great Derek!
I really like it. The coloring and everything looks really good.

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.
That looks great Derek, I can taste it in my Spaghetti sauce.
Excellent - like others have said ... you've really got that 'dry, papery onion skin, with a hint of the solid onion underneath' look - just right. Great job Derek.

Simply amazing work. This onion looks so real.

Derek, great work. Realistic, the only thing lacking was the smell!!
Derek, I just can't comprehend how you (and other members who use the same technique) keep track of all the line drawing when putting the colours in. I am a novice to this!

As I'm constructing the drawing I tend to use different colours for the line to shapes as I'm drawing or alternativly fill with a basic flat fill as I go.
If you are using layers, as I do when being disciplined, you can obviously keep track by placing on separate layers. Sometimes however I just plough on, its all on one layer and would be a complete mess without separating various lines and shapes by colour coding.
Once you have the basic shapes down and filled then most of the line work goes on top of this later to add detail as with the veining on the skin of this onion etc.
I think the wire frame makes it look far more complex than it really is. You don't do all of these lines and them start to refine it. You (I) simply organise as I go. If faced with that mess of line to sort out before I started to add fill then yes it would be an almost impossible task.
