The economy is so bad that ...

I got a 'pre-declined' credit card in the mail.
I ordered a burger at McDonalds and the kid behind the counter asked, "Can you afford fries with that?"
If the bank returns your check marked "Insufficient Funds," you call them and ask if they meant you or them.
Hot Wheels and Matchbox stocks are trading higher than GM.
McDonald's is now selling the 1/4 ouncer.
Parents in Beverly Hills fired their nannies and learned their children's names.
A truckload of Americans was caught sneaking into Mexico.
Dick Cheney took his stockbroker hunting.
The Mafia is laying off judges.
Exxon-Mobil laid off 25 Congressmen.

And finally...
Congress says they are looking into this Bernard Madoff scandal. Oh Great!! The guy who made $50 Billion disappear is being investigated ...
... by the people who made $1.5 Trillion disappear!

Fancy that! After getting your hands on all this Iraqi oil you are not better off! In primitive days, the victor was enriched with all the spoils, but modern warfare only costs us how many million per day?

Do you want to import some cheap Kangaroo meat or bumper bar bunnies from Australia? I remember when the Aussie Dollar bought 5USD, but now it is 88c Australian to 1 USD.
The Golf war is dragging us down.

Your list is funny but the actual economy is pretty bad.
Things are pretty bad here in Arizona. High unemployment and many home foreclosures. The state itself is in bad shape, our government is in terrible debt. Soon they will be closing state parks and the cities are in sad shape too. NOw they are laying off police and firemen which will threaten the safety of the citizens. And how many public parks, programs for kids and school programs will be shut down. Very sad.
I imagine that it must be much like this in other states too.
