Hi Folks,
Has anyone ever managed to insert a Real Player video into an XWD web page before. I can get *.avi to work, but RP gives a blank page.
Thanks,

Hi Again,
Just thought I would upload the .web to show what I was talking about. The AVI file plays well but the .flv file just creates a small square in the top left corner.
The green button on each page is how to navigate the 2 pages.

Hi Ed,
.FLV is not 'Real Player' video. You may just have RP set to play it on you PC.
.FLV is Flash Video.
There's been a number of threads asking about embedding Flash Video (.FLV) where I've shown some examples.
Here's one:

Hi Sledger,
Thanks for the info and thread lead. I've gotten an example going so now that works, I just have to figure out exactly how I would get this working on any page I wanted, shouldn't be too hard though.
Don't know why I thought flash was Real Players specific.....brain cramp I guess....oh well, the mind is getting kinda old every day.
Thanks again for the tips,
Ed......:-)
Hi Folks,
One more question......My flv files work, but they start playing right away when I load the pages. I duplicated the pages for a test of the previous setup and I get them playing right away.
They appear to be playing 'twice'...I'll post the .web.
Oh yeh, I said there would be a question.....
How do you load the page with the flv not playing?
Thanks,
Ed.......:-)
Ed your placeholder source shows me you are working with .swf (Shockwave Flash) and not .flv
You'd need a flash authoring tool like Camtasia to create .swf player controls (which itself is another .swf file)
There's nothing in Web Designer to control .swf playback
Hi Sledger,
Thanks a lot, I have more work to do obviously.....
Your help is invaluable.

Sledger recommended AnyFLV player in this thread.
I have used it on my own personal website (not created in XWD however. It's actually a customised Webster layout) and it works just fine.
Hi Jimi,
It works fine to put the file I want to play up on a page but it starts automatically and I don't want it to do that. Also when I tested it with another page, it started that page too and I had 'double' sound.
I'm just trying to find the way to have the file load without playing when the page comes up. Have you found how to do that?
Thanks,
Ed......:-)
Any FLV creates videos with control bars rather like Youtube. You can set the parameters to load and autoplay or require the user to press a play button.
