I buy 2-10 CDs / month, but also a handful of albums online from various sites and have a monthly subscription to eMusic. Also donate now and then via paypal to artists who release great music on free netlabels.

Been considering buying a vinyl deck but something tells me I really shouldn't :-D

Why not? I did, put all my old records on CD, but do you know that downloading music you already own is also legal.
You payed for it when you bought the vinyl record.

Actually its not a great deal better even now
But I wander from the topic maybee....
You can wonder into a library and borrow up to 5 cd's at a time for a couple of £'s, go home copy them and go back for more the next day if you want to. You say they do books as well? I wondered what the three floors below the record library were used for.

I'm in the fortunate position to be sent an awful lot of it, but I also have a subscription to Emusic.com (which incidentally is DRM free) and get pretty much everything else I need from there.

Music is important. Your life is incomplete without it.

If it's such an awful lot, perhaps you should pick from alternative artists, or a different genre.

I prefer to download music purely for economical reasons. I have an internet radio station (Broadway Cafe Society Radio) and it's just cheaper to download tracks individually than to buy entire CDs of music than I'm not going to use. I do that with my vinyl collection as well -- just rip the tracks I plan to use.

I'll still pay for CDs if they're not available digitally, but that's become less and less frequent nowadays. Plus, the record labels often supply me with promotional CDs for airplay consideration.

But between emusic, Amazon and iTunes, I get just about I needed.
