major release? thats kind of significant right? i think its a bunch of the little things about xara that we need fixed, i cant think specifics at the moment... either way why not join with anime studio (ex moho) guys... instead of compete?

im not expecting animation with next xara but itd be AMAZING.

In the end you are not going to persuade the other person to agree with your point of view and neither are they going to persuade you to their's.

I'm just curious why people stray into these types of discussions knowing in advance that no one will be swayed from their personal opinion?

BTW I own Illustrator, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, as well as Xara products. They all have features that can make various tasks easier than may be done with another application.
It's not so much a product is "better" that always matters. In terms of Xtreme, it's an excellent product that is not acheiving it's appropriate (in terms of technical ability) market share. This failure to capture professional market share is probably related to it's low price point and consequently lower marketing and development budget. Ultimately, the marketing budget is probably more important than the technical one, but we may be suffering on both counts by the low price point.

Why do we talk about this stuff? Well, it's more interesting than politics, or football and we have even less of a chance of affecting what happens there either!

Xara X needs some changes and small upgrades, like any other application, but even so it's my favorite. I wish I knew how to do all the things it allows
I have your complete package and I've just used Xara Xtreme and Xara 3D. But you deserve all the full support we can give.

Go, go Xara! And the PSD export

I'm really not sure, why we are talking about the
financial situation of Xara Ltd., the market share
of Xara Xtreme, the open source concept and the
    market share of Adobe Illustrator?

Do any forum member really think, there is no more money
to develop further versions of Xara Xtreme? Remember,
there was a group of developers engaged to create the
open source version of Xara Xtreme for Linux over a year.
Do anyone really think, that's possible without the
    necessary to be in funds?

Do any forum member really think, he knows something
about the sales of Xara Ltd. in the last time? Do you really
know, how many new customers bought a version of a
Xara product? Do any forum member really know, how
popluar Xara Xtreme is, since there are marketing campaigns
like the last months with great birthday offers, CDs with
Xara Xtreme XS in computer magazines and a great publicity
together with the open source version of Xara Xtreme?

Do anyone really know the absolute market share of
Adobe Illustrator, Freehand, Corel Draw, Inkscape,
Xara Xtreme or other vector graphic editors?

I don't think, there is a member of this forum,
who knows all these facts in detail. And therefore it
doesn't make sense to be concerned about the future of
Xara Xtreme. And I'm sure, Charles know how to manage
    a software company.

I don't know, why there could be frustrated Xara Xtreme
users out there. Certainly not about the great functionality
and speed of Xara Xtreme. If you think in another way,
please tell me your favorite (better) vector graphic editor.

The only possible frustration could be, that's not possible
to include all the features we like in a short time.
And therefore it's a good idea to open source Xara Xtreme
for the community. If Xara Ltd. disclose the source code
completely, I'm positive about the success of this concept.

Thumbs up Re: Major New Product Annoucement

Remi, thank you for putting it so plainly. The announcement is certainly exciting, but personally it wouldn't matter to me if Xara Xtreme never made an upgrade. The program as it is now is amazing. There is always at least one way to do something and there seems to be a never-ending cascade of surprises finding out new ways to do things and new things to do with Xara.

Because we can and it's kinda fun. Charles can smile at the speculation and discussion and just ignore it. It's only happening right now because of the announcement.

It's good that you are positive about open source and I hope you're right (I think it was a really bad move). I think X1 to Xtreme was one step sideways and one step back. I was hoping for two steps forward.

Anyway, we'll see! As you say, Charles is the big cheese and has had success many of us would just dream about.
