    Default Blinded

    Greetings to all,

In an attempt to experiment with some of the techniques that I have learned from here I came up with this. A few clonings and some transparencies gave some pretty good effects. I kept it in basic greyscale hoping to give it a better feel. Now if I only had a quarter of the talent that I have seen on this site. As usual hints, tips and comments are most welcome.

My tip: leave it exactly as it is.
It is a good study in light and shade.
    Well done.
"Intbel" ... "Can't" is not an option.

Compliance is futile. Resistance is futile. Just do your own thing an' ignore 'em.

I agree. It came out great! The light shades are perfect. You have way more talent than 1/4!!!!!

An excellent piece of work. I think it should stay just as it is. Very nostalgic.
Every day's a new day, "draw" on what you've learned.

Same here. Colors would be a distraction. It's perfect just the way it is. Intriguing title, though. "Blinded"?

Lovely study of a young girl, made me smile!

I like it. A lot. A study in sepia!

If I had to criticise (and I'm splitting hairs here) it is that the hair sticking out from her hat is too detailed and makes the eye wander from what shoud be the focal point, her face.
If someone tried to make me dig my own grave I would say No.

Just goes to show that everyone has their own tastes. I can see where you are coming from, but the detailed hair works for me. I cannot see a single focal point, as to me, the whole body calls calls attention to it - the posture, the pants under the skirt, the perfect chubbiness to the legs and cheeks for a child that age, the facial expression, the hands ... The mouth is probably the greatest focal point to me, but this picture _draws_ me to look at all of the rest, something not all pictures accomplish correctly.

I feel the detailed hair actually adds to it, as I've seen drawings of that nature that feel rather plain to me. Not this one, though. To me, it's excellent as-is.

(Frank - Your ape and mouse is also excellent, even though I did not comment in that thread. I liked it a lot.)

Very mood picture. I like it.
My advice – to add some reflex to right leg, it is too dark.
