egg - xara's SVG has always been flaky, some versions more than others; inkscape is ok, agreed

I don't think any of the above relates to your problem
if stephane is using xara designer pro ver 19 with affinity, possibly be something to be aware of, otherwise possibly not....

I've found Xara's exported svg's to be very reliable HD, especially after they brought in the select selected objects only. I use svg's a great deal but never imported into Affinity before. They don't import into Affinity designer either.

they do import - did you try what i showed for affinity photo ?

as for designer they import as well, as you can see in the layer dialog here where they are clearly shown:

you just don't see them in the workspace - and as AD is not canvas based that fix is not available....

.... but if you select them in the layer dialog and zoom out you will see them

and can move them into view

Yes, if you watch my video in full screen you can see the svg imports, but the content is blank.

slack terminology here [from both of us] - you are placing the svg into an existing affinity file [there is no such function in affinity as import of file, only 'importable content' which is a special case, think OCC]

no you won't see it I agree, you will need to open the svg itself by drag and dropping onto the empty workspace - then when you have found the content you can copy it over from within affinityto your existing file and then you will see it.....

placing appears to crop all that lies outside of the placement box -which I guess is fair enough ?

but if you open the svg itself it is all there, even if it is outside of the canvas/document initial size

I think the xara export for 19 has messed up the boundary info in the SVG file, but I am guessing

Ah! See what you mean now TG. The shapes load but off the page and away from their bounding box.
