Font pixellated problem

I'm having an issue with pixellation of fonts as shown here:



The top line is in web designer, while the bottom line is from the website. I think there are a few potential causes, and and hoping you can help me sort them out.

1) I'm using the poppins google font which is embedded in the page (non-standard font?)
2) Its a link that is clickable
3) It is part of a group, but I've selected the option "Separate images for group members"

Looking at other parts of the website I have the same problem when it's not a link, and when it's not a group, so I'm guessing it's probably 1) that's the issue. Other than changing the font of the entire website (is there an easy way to do this?) what are my options?

#3 is the culprit. Xara turns text into an image when it's grouped. Telling Xara the to treat the group as separate images still makes text and image.

Ungroup and leave the text as text.

Or use Soft Group (Arrange menu) which I believe keeps the text as editable (vector) text.

Thats odd, because I can select the text as text (ie, character by character) and if I look at the source its in a <span> with the text there.

Also, just tried ungrouping and that made no difference.

Any other ideas?

Are you working 1:1 in Xara (zoom - 100%). If you are working at a higher zoom, say 200% or more the text will look fine but at Windows screen resolution not so fine.

In Xara (18.5.0.62892 DL x64 Aug 11 2021) I'm working at 100%, and it looks fine. Its only in the browser it looks off. View quality is Very High.

Just tried changing to a web safe font and it looks fine. I suspect its due to the embedded fonts becoming pixelated at a small size - they look fine if you zoom them up. Guess I'll have to change all of my fonts to a websafe equivalent.

Turns out I spoke too soon. I changed all the fonts to verdana, now I'm getting this in firefox vs xara:



Guess it might come in handy if I'm sending ransom notes but not really what I was hoping for. A number of the text has also randomly changed colour and size on the website, but looks fine in Xara.

Does anyone have any ideas on what this issue is?

Hi paco, it would help greatly if you could attach a .xar/.web file that creates this strange effect otherwise we're just guessing in the dark.
