    Hi Mockingbirdhill,
If you do decide to try posting your web file, RapidShare will allow you to upload up to 100MBytes for free.

    www.rapidshare.com

You can then post the RapidShare link so Sledger can take a look.

If you are worried about confidentiality on RapidShare, encrypt your web file in a ZIP archive first - and post the password with the link here.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

Here is another, very simple option:
    • Create a copy of your .web file.
    • Load that .web file copy into Xara Web Designer.
    • Delete your high resolution images, leaving all navigation elements intact. This should dramatically reduce your file size.
    • Save your .web file copy.
    • Attach the .web file copy to your next post.

This might definitely be the problem.

    @Mockingbirdhill:

    Are your buttons soft-grouped?
When a Xara-built button is pulled from the Design Gallery, it has
one group of button elements on the MouseOff layer
one group of button elements on the MouseOver layer
and ... the two groups are soft-grouped
It sounds to me like you did the following:
    • Unsoft-grouped a button
    • Turned off visibility and selectability for the MouseOver Layer
    • Selected the button (unknowingly selecting only the group on the MouseOff layer)
    • Changed the link action to open another page on your site
    • Clicked the apply button
What would happen if you were to do this?

When the cursor is moved over the button, the rollover layer (MouseOver) becomes active. When you click your mouse button, the link that is applied to the MouseOver group (http://www.xara.com/link) is what now takes effect.

    Try this simple test.
    • Make sure that the MouseOff and MouseOver layers are visible and unlocked.
    • Marquee-select your 'About Us button. The status line will say either 1) 2 groups on 2 layers, or 2) 2 groups (Soft Group) on 2 layers.
    • Open the Web Properties dialog, then click the Link tab. If it doesn't show any action (no radio button is selected), then the two button groups are assigned confilicting actions.
    • With both groups selected, click the 'Link to page' option, then select the target page from the drop-down menu. Click the 'Apply' button.
    • Preview your website, testing the function of the 'About Us' button.

OK - I was able to get some help with this. Can you get to the .web file via this link: http://muysecoranch.com/xara/Xara_MuySeco.web

I've downloaded and viewed your .web file. Examination of the buttons on your home page indicate that you simply have not changed their default behavior (that is, that they point to http://www.xara.com/link).

Make MouseOff and MouseOver layers both visible and selectable. Marquee-select your About Us button (making sure that you get '2 groups on 2 layers'). Do an 'Arrange > Link (tab) > Link to page [ aboutus.htm ]'. Make sure that you click the 'Apply' button.

Preview your site and test the 'About Us' button.

Mockingbirdhill, everytime you change the link, make sure you click an "Apply" button. It looks like you didn't in this case.

BTW, links applied to the objects on the mouseover/mousedown layers are ignored on export.

    I did not know that.

To Cursor and Egg and all those who helped: Thanks so much! Once we got past the MouseOff and MouseOver layers, deleted all the link buttons and started over with that, everything finally came together and worked. Your detailed explanations were of great help. Thank you again! Mockingbirdhill
