Default OK, need help please... :Text repel.

I am designing a site and working with layers. I will do my best to explain. I have created a seamless background that is great. The next step I placed a flash header at the top - in a seperate layer. The next thing - using the rectangle tool I made the body under the header - then I added text etc. I went in and placed a graphic that I want to have repelled from the text. When I try to repel the text around the image it does not work. Does it have to be on the same layer to work?

Second: I would like to the have the body layer locked and other aspects so it will not move. Is there a way to do this??

I don't understand what you want. Again, but in more sober terms, attach your .web file to your next post. It will definitely help to resolve your design issues.

I am not going to attach the .web file for a site design. I will for a template for everyone at a later time..

Provided the repelling object (your image) is on top (in front) of the text (or on a layer above the text) it should repell the text.

The layer with the image is above the text. The text and image are the seperate abnd the only things on the layers. I have tried now with a .jpg and a .wmf and they will not repel. I have copy/pasted the text from a .txt file (arial).

I am impressed with this program but there are some things I am finding more complex than they should be. Folders for individual layers for example - are they available?

Corrected issue... I went into Xara Xtreme 5 and did it perfectly - gives you more options. I like the layer layout better in 5, then copy/pasted back to XWD - boom-pow! Perfection. I am obviously learning this and it is a user error...

    X-Newbie,

Here's some help from the Xara Xtreme Help File:
Note that single lines of text do not respond to repelling objects, only text areas and text columns do.

Note that you cannot make an object both repelling and anchored. If you apply both to an object, anchoring takes priority and the repelling attribute of the object is ignored (it will not repel).

Also note that the command is "Repel text under..." Some past users have missed the obvious, so please note that the text must be under the repelling object.

    IHTH,
    Harry

This is a redundant step. You don't need to copy/paste from X5 to WD, you can do Web Export / Preview right in X5.
