    Default R.I.P

Michael Jackson has died of cardiac arrest, at the age of just 52. He was rushed from his home to the UCLA Medical Center. Following the cardiac arrest, he fell into a coma, then passed away shortly thereafter.

There goes the whirlwind European tour.

    He was actually only 50.

    Thanks for the correction, Steve.
Perhaps it was a Freudian slip, since I was born in '52 ... thinking of my own mortality.

He was one very talented and unique person. I use the word 'unique' lightly. He made quite an impact on the world and many will miss him. It's the old Michael that I will miss, the one from Thriller and before. His later years were a bit of a soap opera.

Agreed - A musical genius, but highly eccentric.

The one act in his life which seemed to sum him up completely is well observed in this lyric by Warren Zevon (who died aged 56) from "Splendid Isolation":

    Michael Jackson in Disneyland
Don't have to share it with nobody else
Lock the gates, Goofy, take my hand
And lead me through the World of Self

    Saludos,
    Bob.

It is very sad to see such a great talent wasted and destroyed by mental problems. I suspect they will find his death related to drugs. Very sad to see that those closest to him enabled him to destroy himself.

Nice pic JA, now maybe you can do one of him before the plastic surgies started ?

And lets not Forget Ed McMahon and Farrah Fawcett, 2 other great talents also lost this week.
JA, how about a pic of ED and Farrah too ?

It is really unfortunate that Farrah's death is getting so little attention. Her battle against rectal cancer is IMHO, a much more deserving story and one that could potentially save lives.
