    Default Insert Page question

    Hi,
done a search on forum but couldn't find the answer (didn't know how to query what I want to know)
Anyay when you insert a page, does that page have its own layers or are layers shared with all pages?
It seems that when I do it it has same layers.

    Hi Jim,

The add new page seems to be functioning as insert a duplicate of the current page. All layers on the currently selected page are created in a new page.

    Hi soqili,
thanks for the reply (but not the one I wanted LOL).
So if I insert a blank page, the layers from original page are thre also with content? Or can I have a page containing it's own layers?

The layers and their names will be the same but not the contents.

You still must use the insert duplicate to have the contents of the layers on a new page.

    Scotty,

If you insert a blank page, not a duplicate page, then you will not have any of the layers that your other pages have. You will only have the built in XWD layers. If you use duplicate page then , you will get an exact copy of whatever page you are currently on, layers & content...

    Hope this helps you...

    Assume:

    Page_One
    __Layers:
    ____mouseOver-SubMenu
    ____SubMenu
    ____MouseOver
    ____MouseOff
    Page_Two
    __Layers:
    ____PopUp_1
    ____MouseOver
    ____MouseOff
    Page_Three
    __Layers:
    ____PopUp_2
    ____PopUp_1
    ____mouseOver-SubMenu
    ____SubMenu
    ____MouseOver
    ____MouseOff

An 'Edit > Pages > New page' will depend on the active page (note the on-screen corner brackets):
If Page_One is the active page, then the new page is inserted between Page_One and Page_Two.
    __Layers:
    ____mouseOver-SubMenu
    ____SubMenu
    ____MouseOver
    ____MouseOff

If Page_Two is the active page, then the new page is inserted between Page_Two and Page_Three.
    __Layers:
    ____PopUp_1
    ____MouseOver
    ____MouseOff

If Page_Three is the active page, then the new page is inserted after Page_Three (at the end of the stack).
    __Layers:
    ____PopUp_2
    ____PopUp_1
    ____mouseOver-SubMenu
    ____SubMenu
    ____MouseOver
    ____MouseOff
The key word "insert" is not used in the Xara Web Designer menuing structure (although, that's what it does).

Note that in order to insert a page before Page_One, you must 1) make Page_One the current page, then 2) do An 'Edit > Pages > New page', then follow with an 'Edit > Pages > Move Page Up. (psst ... Xara ... note the minor inconsistency in menu option capitalization )

As noted by Soquili, doing a 'Pages > duplicate current page' will create a new, exact copy of the currently active page, including 1) layer structure, and 2) graphic/textual content (like-distributed on those layers).

    Hi,
Well I think I am beginning to grasp the concept, what I am quearying, is to have the same basic "theme", but with different menu items for mousOff/MouseOver on 2nd and subsequent pages. So I am thinking of nameing on page two:
MouseOff_p2 and MouseOver_p2 and assigning "addresses" that relate to "content" on page two. (does that make sense)

Scotty, just delete the buttons (off & over) on page 2 and create new ones in both the MouseOff & MouseOver layers.
