BS, the product name is Xara Web Designer Premium. The "pop-up" is MagiXara's newsfeed (http://content.magix.net/newsfeeds/x...i/en/index.htm). Beardie might go in August.
The pop-up has a "Don't show this again" checkbox; tick it.

:O Yes I think there is a way of replacing the file (at least there used to be). But my tired old brain cannot remember how to do this. Check back. I am sure one of the members will remember how to do this.
I did a search and this is all I could find from 2004. Not sure if these will still work https://www.talkgraphics.com/showthr...-splash-screen
EEEEkkkkk! beardie man is still glaring at me and must have deleted the check box because he knows I don't like him. I don't have a check box??? I seem to remember seeing one associated with the updates panel splash while back which I unchecked but I have no checkbox on beardie man and I still get the splash when going to updates... :(
Think he means this guy.
I asked Xara if it is possible to change the splash screen image. If it is, the answer will be here.
Yep I have no problems with the updates as I don't get Beardie Man then. It's every time I start my program. Oh Dear, there we are in a heatwave of 36-38 degrees and the world is going to fry, yet the worst torture in my life is Xara beardie Man... :-O
You can make your own and place it in the Bitmaps folder and, if this version is anything like previous ones, your Xara application will use it instead of the internal one.
Do a search for the size. Search for something like splash or splashscreen.bmp
Mike - I did a wildcard search for *.bmp in my Program Files > Xara folder and only came up with splash screens for Web Designer and Designer Pro version 10. I think they stopped using that method. And I could not find anything in Program Data or the App Data folders.
Arrrrrgggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!! That's the bloke....GWP
Perhaps they could flip the screen so that he is looking the other way....
It needs to reside in the installation folder, Bitmap folder.
I just did it for both XDP & P&GD. It doesn't exist on a fresh installation. You need to create the drawing, export as a bmp to splashscreen.bmp and copy it to the folder I mention--at least as long as there is not a difference between the two Xara applications I mention and the Webby versions.
Yep, Mike, that works!
Excellent, Gary.
Might be time for another splash screen thread. I haven't bothered to do a new splash screen for a few versions. Sounds like a fun thing to do with tomorrow's morning coffee.
well since windows bmp dosn't do alpha thoght I'd make it so small yuo can't actually see it - that works too :D
ok Miike - I rarely use the format these days...thaanks
I thought Beardie man was going to implode soon but he hasn't and looking at the fact he is in their main XWD advertising stuff it's unlikely he will. It's pretty rare these days that software doesn't have the ability to turn off nag screens. Anyway looking at your reply you have fixed this issue with XDP and P&GD but not XWD so can I assume it cannot be changed as a search of my system files and hidden files brings up nothing in the way of splashy type bmps for me.Attachment 121767
It does work in WDP. I followed the instructions from this thread and now have my own splash screen, without a beard I might add. I used Printscreen to capture the area I wanted and it saved as a .bmp. Works for me anyway - WDP version 15.1.
You won't find the beard guy .bmp. You just have to put a .bmp in the bitmaps folder named splashscreen.bmp as stated earlier in the thread and the program will use that.
I think if you just create an image to size, save it as splashscreen.bmp (.bmp file format) file at 96dpi in the Bitmaps folder it will load automatically.

What's this poor bearded guy done to upset so many members? FREE THE BEARDED ONE!
You are a star. Fantastic you have made my day... No more Beardie Man... this is much better. I might even get some sleep tonight without dreaming about him :)

Love it! :)
