looking for a glass cube text tutorial
Can anyone point me toward a tutorial which shows how to produce a 3d glass-block or ice-cube effect to text using just Xara Extreme?
I think I remember one being done but can't seem to locate it
I'm thinking it may have been either Gary or Remi who did it?
Re: looking for a glass cube text tutorial
Hey Paul
If I am not mistaken, what you may be thinking about was a thread in the forum a year or two ago. I do remember gary posting a sample, one of many by a very talented gang. Actually I even tried one myself, melted before I could post it...........frank
Bingo......the one I was thinking of was ice cube challange by AndFarr

Hi geminiguy,
do you mean the "Not so realistic glass" thread? (But my approach in this thread was, to use a 3D graphics editor.)
There were also other interesting threads with glass or ice-cube effects:

Re: looking for a glass cube text tutorial
Thanks guys... what I'm actually trying to accomplish is this... but using only xara extreme (or LX as I use)
I remember a feature I had when I had the PRO trial but does not exist in the basic. I'm sure I can get it "eventually" but it's gonna take A LOT of work:rolleyes:
I will look over a couple of those Remi, thanks. I new about the ice cube challenge but, I think the "not so glass" one is more the one I remember.
This will be a challenge and 1/2 for me and I will prob end up going with a 3d app but I at least want to give it a fair try first (because I'm a glutton for punishment):D

And... here's another thread related.... http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthread.php?t=25095
not as nice as remi's or geminiguys, and a few others, but what the heck, great way to close a chapter...

Ahhh, yes Remi... this is the one I remembered...
What is the editor you used for this effect?
Re: looking for a glass cube text tutorial
Gigit... yup, I definitely remember your's, it was pretty cool. I grabbed the xar and WOW quite a lot of work you put into that:)
Thanks
Re: looking for a glass cube text tutorial
I've used Carrara Studio Pro, but I'm sure you can use each and every 3D graphics software, in order to render such a text.
