Welcome to TG.

Hi Daveios,
Images can ONLY be loaded into X3D as [Textures].
Have fun.
I'm still very confused on the issue.
If i cant upload .jpg's how am i to make any of my files spin?
It's basically a two step procedure.
Firstly you need to draw around your image to extract it from its background. To do this you'll need a vector drawing program, Xara Xtreme, CorelDraw, Inkscape (free), Adobe Illustrator Serif DrawPlus 4 (free). This will give you a shape that Xara 3D will recognise. Export it as a .wmf file.
Secondly in Xara 3D you need to import your shape (.wmf file) or paste it from the clipboard if you are using Xara Xtreme. You can now add your .jpg as a texture.
Below are links to 2 tutorials to show you how it's done.
Saludos,
Bob.
Thank you, hopefully this will work.
:D I see your from Granada?
I have an apartment in Fuengirola
If you try to work through the tutorials and get stuck, don't be afraid to ask for help.
Yes, Granada province near the border with Jaen province, in the area known as the Altiplano, 1 hour north of Baza. I shall be holidaying in your neck of the woods for a week in October, at Mijas Costa.

Bob.

I'm very impatient, so i give up. I cant do it, i've looked at the tutorials etc...
So, can someone make the spinning image for me?
West ham badge above. :)
Appreciated, cheers.
Daveios,
Sorry, but no-one will do it for you. If you're not prepared to learn to do it yourself then it can't be all that important to you.
Have a look at the post directly above your last one, from Iamtheblues. At the bottom in the signature line it says "My 2 Spinning Logo Tutorials (.pdf) for beginners are available to download here." Download these instructions (which are very simple) and try again.
Please don't quit. You can do it! Once you understand, you will be glad that you kept trying.
Keep waiting and one of us not so clever members might do it for you so 2 people can get banned.
Your are not very funny Daveios nor original.
Who says i'm trying to be funny or orginal?
I'm not a kind of person that has patience.
I've looked at many tutorials and there not helping, as much as some of you nicer guys are trying to help my language in graphics isn't very good.
I've got Xara3d & Xara xtreme. I've pasted the west ham badge into xara xtreme i've outlined it all but the image isn't going black. i exported & imported it taking it to Xara3D but it just showed the outline of the picture i cut. not the textture in the middle.
And please do tell me what being "Funny & original" has to do with anything.
if you are very impatient and gave up - you gave up, end of story no problem
good luck in what ever it is you choose to do next, lets hope you find something that does not require patience [in graphics that might be difficult]
[PS: the image will not go black unless the ends of the outline join to make a shape]
All of the lines did match...
post it up - someone will take a look and can tell you what is wrong...
I've done one on xara3d
How do i upload it onto here?
posting up details here:
http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthread.php?t=20727
it is the xtreme .xar file that is the one to be looked at - you can post up the x3d file as well if you wish
post #3 in the link is the one that covers attachments...
here?
that's an arsenal badge - ok you got the hang of that - so now if you actually want help can we see the .xar file? :);)
There's the xar file.
nothing wrong with that one is there
how about the one you are having difficulty with - the west ham one, where it is not giving a black shape....... strikes me if you got the arsenal one right you should get the west ham one right too....
Hmm, lets have another go.
If you look the Arsenal badge it isn't fitted properley... :(
I'm actually getting the hang of this now, thanks.
Only problem is the exact cutting :( looks dodgy
When you are drawing the outline, it helps if you hold down the Ctrl key on the keyboard when doing the horizontal and vertical lines. This will constrain your lines accordingly.

Bob.
i use shape editor right?
Edit: Also, how do i save as a .gif file so i can post it on other forums?
Finished items can be exported as animated gif's using File > Export animation
Unless you are used to using the pen tool in Illustrator or Photoshop, then yes, I think the shape editor tool is the way to go.
Saludos,
Bob.
glad to see you are getting there Daveios - even if you have switched clubs :D
Huahua.
I'm a West Ham fan, just the Arsenal badge was easiest to do :P why cant there be a magic wand tool like ps. :'[
Awh man...
http://img393.imageshack.us/my.php?i...munitedju8.gif
It comes up as demo in the background :mad:
you had me confused there for a while - but then rugby union is my game.. :)
no magic wand - thats a raster tool not a vector one [no magic wand in illustrator either same reason]... they are fiddly to get truely accurate too..
so you didn't actually do the arsenal one then? - that was not done on a demo version was it?
i only have the demo version
look on photoshop when i uploaded it.
ok - well does it not have that background in the program ? its a long time since I used a trial version of x3D
the only way to remove it is to buy the xara 3D program - sorry
I am glad you are getting to grips with this, Daveios, your spinning gif could be exported as transparent, and the background would disappear, except for the shadow.
I suggest you disable the shadow, anyway, as it increases the file size of the animated gif quite substantially. Other than that, it looks like a good effort, so pat yourself on the back, because a lot of would-be logo spinners give up before getting a result.
Not only that, you have broadened your horizons, because once you can draw your own vectors in XaraXtreme you can add more 3D detail to your image (see the attached badge), and can tackle many more projects, and not just for Xara3D.
Mike
Transparent was already ticked.
I don't think there is any way to get rid of the "DEMO" notice.
Lets face it, if there was, it sort of defeats the object doesn't it!
Well Done, getting this far. It's not hard, just needs some understanding.
The next step is adjustment - Try and adjust the lighting (Just drag the lights around) so that you don't get quite the same dark/light transition whilst the object is spinning.
:( It makes my work of art look ruined.
I kinda wanted them to use them for stuff...
Aint there any free programmes or anywhere where i can get zara from?
Xara 3D is a very economical programme. If you really want it, buy it! It's only the cost of a tank of gas!
