Grouping objects with bevels
I made a couple of spirals with SPXE, cloned them, and added them to a curved line. Added a bevel and a shadow and grouped the result ...... Good so far ..... Now everytime I try to move the object, it comes up with the attached message .... EVERY TIME ... and drops a copy of the object I'm trying to move. This is very frustrating.
Has anyone seem this before, and if so how can I stop it.
I enclose the .xar if anyone can reproduce this.
Re: Grouping objects with bevels
Moved the objects with no problem. Got the message only when I tried to ungroup.
Re: Grouping objects with bevels
I had no problems moving ... only when trying to access the Arrange menu.
Re: Grouping objects with bevels
Keith - Sometimes Xtreme gets a wild hair up somewhere and does weird things. Then when you bail and restart Xtreme so you can log a legitimate bug it does not happen anymore. It was a one off.
Have you tried to replicate this behavior?
Re: Grouping objects with bevels
There was a similar topic a short time ago with a grouped bevel bug that was fixed in an update.

Perhaps the laster CD version has fixed this one?
Re: Grouping objects with bevels
The problem was fixed with the latest update, which can be downloaded on the Xara product download page.
It's also fixed on the version on the CD. At least I haven't run into it yet.
Oddly enough, I had a similar message with a grouped contour group, but it's only happened once so far. (crosses fingers)

Well .... I have opened the attached .xar with my home machine and it still exhibits the same behavior. I am running the latest update ....

Completely new design ... Same problem ....
Yes, I can repeat it .... Obviously not fixed very well!

Re: Grouping objects with bevels
I think this might be a consequence of a grouped collection of lines rather than applying the bevel to a shape?
I find that converting the lines to shapes, then welding (add-shapes) before adding the bevel, causes no dramas.
There's likely to be a technical reason for the error message.
Perhaps we'll hear from PhilM later?
On another note, opening Keith's file in Xtreme Pro 4 gives another strange error message?? Flash properties???

Re: Grouping objects with bevels
Keith's file post #1 shows the same kind of error message behaviour as referenced in steve's link post #5, for me too :(
