    Default Aviary

Not sure where this should go, so thought this might be a good place until a moderator makes a better decision.

"Aviary" is looking very interesting. They're looking for beta testers, and there are many people on this forum with a great deal of wide-ranging experience who might wish to take part.

A very (ha!) tasty looking suite of products, Anton.
I have just asked for an invite, primary interest vector,
to see how it shapes up (ha!) to Xara Xtreme.
    Saludos,
    Bob.

Indeed. Will this be the "all things to all people" that some Xaraphiles pride Xara on not being?

[Sorry -- that was tongue-in-cheek, not to be taken seriously. Well -- not too seriously... ]

The GUI looks much more modern than Xara Xtreme's old-fashioned GUI, that's for sure. But I don't believe that interpreted ActionScript within the Flash-Plugin can be faster, than a C++ program like Xara Xtreme, therefore I wouldn't use it as an alternative for a Desktop Application.

As they say in their FAQ: "Desktop software is better for industrial grade commercial work by individuals. Aviary's browser based applications are great for the collaboration period (mockups, feedback) that takes place during the planning stages of a commercial project.
Additionally, it's wonderful for hobbyists and budding artists who want to learn general editing concepts with powerful, but accessible software in an environment where they can share and "open-source" their work with other hobbyists." (source: http://a.viary.com/faq)
