    Ran accross this while experimenting with Xara. Thought it was kind of an interesting & easy way to create arrows (previous & next) that could be on web page.

    Looks really good. I've never used join shapes so far but can see myself doing so in the future, given your example,

    The Join operation was one of the first path operations offered by various vector applications and for a while was much abused by vector artists.

    I use it to knock out shapes such as Joining two solid circles to make an O-shape.

    You can also Join lines, and then convert the lines to shapes and have one continuous outline.
