need some help please....

I am trying to ad some nodes to a ellipse that I made so I can change the curve...here's what I did...
1. clicked ellipse tool and made ellipse
2. clicked shape editor tool so I can add some points on the ellipse

thus the problem...it doesn't add to the ellipse so I can move the ellipse...this cant be that hard...in the movie it shows to do what I am doing...

You have to convert to editable shapes first. Otherewise the ellipse remains an ellipse and can be edited as such. Once you convert to editable shapes (Arrange > Convert to Editable Shapes) the ellipse becomes a simple path to which you can add points.
