I noticed that you are using both Wings and Vue d'esprit. I wonder if you have been able to export from Wings to any format (such as .3ds or .obj) and open the file in Vue d'esprit. So far I have not been able to. I am having trouble trying to register at the Wings forum so I thought I would try it here.

TIA

Arnorld,

I usually export my Wings models as obj-files. Sometimes I have had some problems with the import, and I suspect it was Wings that wrote in a bad format. Both Wings and Vue aren't perfectly stable yet, so it's always a good idea to look for the new patches for the both of them. At the moment I use Wings version 0.97.04 and Vue version 4.1 (don't remember which build) and they work pretty well together. A minor thing in Vue is that after the upgrade/patch the preview window sometimes flips the textures of a model. For example, I did a pair of sunglasses and the frames became the glass and the lenses became rubber! Don't know if I should be or
After a few refreshes the preview looked correct though.
More about the formats and how they differ. When you export from Wings in obj-format, the parts with different materials will be split into separate object. Ie if you modell a pair of glasses and apply different materials for the lenses and the frames, they will be imported in Vue as two objects: lenses and frames. If you export from Wings as 3ds-files the object will stay as one object and the different materials will be put together into one material/texture map. I am not completely sure about the later one because I don't know 3D Studio, and usually use the obj-format because I find it easier to use in Vue.
