Gary has a tutorial (Feb. 2000) where he shows how to create a simple spiral. I tried it and it works!

My tutorial works but it is a bit labor intensive. If you want a really simple spiral, ask someone who owns DRAW or Illustrator.

If you want a spiral, have you tried the Phone Code brush tool?
that's a helix, not a spiral

I can't make the spiral simple, but I can make getting to the spiral tutorial easier. Click the link and away you go.

Hello
Whilst not as perfect as Gary's method this might get you there.
Make 10 cm circle on a grid of 1cm and 10 divisions. Clone the circle. Reduce it to 1cm.
Blend between the circles. Use the pen tool to draw from circle to circle as in the attached file.
You can fine tune it by eye.
By the end you will be a expert with the line shape tool.

I've made too many images to upload here but if you visit spirals
you can see what can be done.
I've also attached my original spiral .xar file for anyone who wants to use it
