    Hello Kiley,

You need to drag the bevel right in until the flat part disappears. This should give you the right effect.

    1/ Draw a line
2/ convert the line to shape
    3/ apply a bevel
    4/ give it rounded corners
5/ choose the "round bevel from the dropdown list

it takes longer to write than to do it.

Xara X creates the bevel raising it towards the centre of the shape. Unfortunatelly it's not possible to set the "centre" with e.g. point of rotation or anything else. It would be great to have one more slider to adjust the "central point of the bevel. It would mean that on one side of the shape bevel would go up slower than on other when raising.

Okay... that was just a dream. Now the reality.

Here is how to make a photoshop 6 bevel in Xara.

    1. Xara Bevel
    2. Cut out the part of the gradient. Ungroup, remove the unimportant parts. Make a clean gradient that can be put on the top ov the original XARA X shape.
    3. Stretch the gradient to the size of the original beveled shape, apply feather.
*Put the gradient above the original XARA beveled shape and experiment with feather until you get the needed result.
    4. Result.

I didn't notice that there is only 20 messages per pages displayed. Erik your idea is not only perfect for "buttons" it works absolutely perfect with any kind of lines!!! That's the trick I was looking for when I was trying to draw a porcelaine statue (I had to make a simple white sphere brush, but it wasn't very flexible). This is far better I think. I'm going to experiment with it a while.
