I havn't explored what Xara can do for web graphic optimization, so what I currently do is create the images with Xara, export them as gifs or jpg's depending on if I need quality, transparency, or minimal file size, then optimize them in Photoshop (save for web).

Heres a site thats all Xara, however not yet optimized in photoshop, and its all gifs, so it is currently pretty big.
