Angel for hope and fear

Finally managed to visit the 'Angel of the North' in Gateshead (North East England). Sir Anthony Gormley's sculpture is believed to be the largest of an angel in the world! Coming in at 208 tonnes and 20 metres (65 feet) high, I can confirm it is a big one!

Probably best to look on wikipedia (link below) for more conventional photos, but here are mine, including a photo of the information panel at the site, showing why it shouldn't blow down.

Ooops. Got his name wrong. Should be Sir Antony Gormley OBE RA!

Some interesting artistic and creative angles to these photographs. You have managed to make it look much better than it ever looks to the casual observer from the front
It is a spectacular sculpture, but the stiffness of the wings is not something that is universally appreciated.

Since seeing it, I'm still working out in my mind what to think. When I first heard about it wondered if it spun around with the wind! (it doesn't).

It does have a strange presence though, I think because of its hilltop position, size/scale, colouring and the awkwardness of those wings.
