Here's a quick and dirty version of an ice cube. Unfortunately, it turned out looking like something Fred Flinstone uses to chill his "Cactus Cola".

Nevertheless, for this method, my source came from a site called Vectorkid.com. This guy is good... 'cause he illustrates with Flash (Freehand) tools only. You ever try Freehand? Gooodnight Irene!!! Beeeeeeeep.....(flatlines from sheer memory of trying Freehand)

But, I digress. Perhaps with a little more effort on reflections, hilites, Xcetra - you'll be able to pull off more (or as much) realism as you need.

If a comment is enough to help you feel like posting your work more frequently, then I believe I'll make a few comments. Your letters quite simply look as though they are made of real ice, with real snow on them (I oughta know, being from the "Great White North" as I am!). Your background kinda puts the lie to the reality of the letters; but, on its own, it would make a very nice beginning of a seascape or a landscape. Your use of colours and fractal fills, though not quite the high art Tao Jones has raised it to, is rather beautiful.

Keep up the great work.

Wayne - thanks for the tutorial on the icecube. I'll have to play around with the technique.

Glen - thanks again. Tao does make some very beautiful images. Maybe someday I can achieve something almost as beautiful.

eh, memories ... I used to use those programmes, about two or more years ago, when I went bananas on textures [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif[/img]
I tried a lot of texture generators, but Infinity may well be the best. The freeware version is not to be sniffed at either - you can do really cool stuff with it. The commercial version struck me as highly sophisticated; so much so that I sometimes felt like I needed to know maths to operate it [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif[/img]
Yea, either of those (free or full) versions would make an excellent companion to Xara.
