For a number of months, I have been sitting back in the wings, watching and learning from all the Xara geniuses that generously contribute their art, ideas and knowledge to this forum. Thank you all!

Now for the challenge..... How about if someone comes up with a fictitous (made-up) name for a company and then people contribute their ideas for a logo? Maybe our resident logo guru, Mr. Priester would be willing to come up with the comapany name. I think it would be interesting to see all different ideas that everyone could come up with. Could be a great learning experience.

DoKo - I hope you don't mind but I relocated this thread from the Xara Gallery Forum over here to the more general Xara X Forum. Seemed like a more appropriate place for it to me. Here it will likely get more participation.

Good idea for a challenge. What do you think of the names Dew Drop Inn?

    Ross,
Thanks for moving the post over here. Personally I think DEW DROP INN sounds like a good company name to use for the challenge. I think this name will make coming up with a logo more difficult, which should add to the interest. Hum, lets see, Dew Drop Inn, ??? what could I do?

Since I thought this was a good idea, I guess I better post something. Here are my contributions. Also, maybe some of you could share your ideas & views on what makes a good logo. Are there some basic elements that make up a good logo? How important are colors. Do certain colors mean certain things and are some colors more appealing then others? Is a simple design usually better than a complex one?

The name 'Dew Drop Inn' conjures up the classic motel of which thousands sprung up throughout North America in the 50's and early 60's. So it is that my contribution looks like a motel sign. The logo that would be derived from the sign is I think not hard to imagine.

If you like things like motel signs then you'll enjoy one of my favorite websites. You can find it here.

    DoKo

I'm trying frantically to crank out the November tutorial before November :-o so I can't work up an awesome and cool logo like Ross Sr. has done,

but here is a ficticious name: Zitex Landscaping.

(Zitex is a shrub that with long purple flowers that attracts butterflies. Odd name for such a pretty schrub. Looks similiar to a Budlia).

    42$

Slogan "Wi will do yo for 2 dolars"

    www.42dollars.com (I don't plan to register it ;-)

also 42 is a number of a sense of life according to Scott Adams

Characteristics of the company are lousy language (even lousier than mine acutally) and really cheap prices and aboslutely repulsive portfolio. Company mostly operates on elance. Could you help them with logo?

PS: Once upon a time, some year ago I did one job through elance, it was a logo for a t-shirt producer for wheelchair people (he himself is a weelachir) I didn't know anything about elance charging system and I did it for 0$. I earned exactly -1$ on this as after the succesfull finishing of the project, my empty account was charged for 1$ ;-). No more elance. I have run away shortly after. (If you want to see the logo, just ask ;-)
