I assume you mean how do you apply text to a circular shape?
Select the circle and from the Arrange pull down menu, select Convert to Editable Shapes.
With the circle still selected, click on the outside edge with the Text Tool and start typing. The place at which you click the Text Tool determines the left margin.
To place text on a path, select the path then click the path with the Text Tool and start typing. You can repostion the text on a path by dragging the tiny red box to the left of the text.
For more information on Xara's Text Tool, including text on a path, see the WebXealot 20 in the XaraXone.

Why is it that people don't read help. And especially the Xara X help which is IMHO the best help I've ever seen in an application.
Hopefully I understood your question correctly. and that the image describes everything you wanted to know fairly clearly.
My first post for a long time, hope it helps you and others.

Bah, Gary beat me to the reply. Guess I was too slow off the mark.
Anyway, here's the Xara file from the above, in case it can help anyone
But Dmagician, I did read the help, but I was looking for path and nothing came up. I wonder why you post if you're not going to be helpful.
Gary and Daniel thank you!
Here are some follow up questions. How do I control the distance from the curve? Also, how do I control the start point of the curve.
Gary, you're tutorials are the best!

Thanks for the compliment on my tutorials. I thought Daniel was trying to put me out of business with his splendid and thorough example.
And dmagician (Roman) was just trying to be helpful. I would have suggested Help myself.
I never thought about offsetting text from a path, but I just tried this and it works. Select the text with the Text Tool, then increase or decrease the Baseline Shift (see the illustration below).
To move text that has been placed on a path, (this does not work on closed paths such as circles) select the text and drag the red box with the Text Tool.

That worked well Gary.
I will have a bunch of Xara questions in the future.
My philosophy is that the message board should be one of the first places you turn for help. I know there a number of people who say, "check the help files you idiot." I have never found help files as helpful as the responses on this board. Where else can you get detailed instructions of how to solve your problems?
Maybe there should be a Xara newbie forum. I'd fit right in...

To move text on a circle *after* you placed it:
*move the cursor to the beginning of the text
*change the value for kerning
