my personal preference is not to have a splash screen at all - which unfortunately is a bit difficult when the program defaults to one - so maybe I will try to use the arcane transparency that Gare mentioned

incidentally - on the subject of differing sizes - I wonder if that is locale based, you and I being UK and he US ?

I went with the same one as last time, since I haven't been able to come up with one I like better.
