Love the colors, Gare. Which bevel did you use?

Agree with Ron, very warm colours. Certainly is fall like.
Hi, Ron. Either Round point or default. The trick s to move the contour's end to as far center as possible, and not outward.
Hint: to carve instead of emboss, just make the highlight 180 degrees in opposition to the other pieces.
My Best,
Gary
@gray...sick, isn't it? Summer's not even here yet!
A more ambitious guy:
This fake wrought ironish "gate" I saw in an old Dover clipart physical catalogue. I cleaned it up and embellished it, then use my desktop copy of Vector Magic to vectorize a copy, then did massive amounts of work connecting areas that should be transparent. Finally, I added the Bevel called Chiselled 2, which technically is a concave Bevel with a small lip on the edge,,,and then waited long enough to redraw that I ad lunch.
If anyone wants to play with this, I'll attach it next post.
My Best,
Gary

So, are you saying that this is the "trick" you used to achieve the effect you wanted for this image?
Sometimes I personally use just a little touch of which-ever contour I'm using to achieve the effect I want; almost always inward.

I've looked through the whole thread, to see if I could pick just 2 drawings that I liked.
So, here's my choice.

Only two, eh, Rik?
How about I pick my favorite birthday of yours in the future, and buy you a gift then?!
Kidding, pal, thanks for liking more than one!

I find this very interesting. You do excellent work Gary. The only thing that I would've done different would be to add just a little harder shadow right underneath the chess pieces to secure them to the canvas. To me, they look like they're floating. That's just my opinion.
