set origin position button never lights up

I have Xara Designer Pro 9 and cannot find a way to turn the set origin position button on. It's always on the toolbar, but greyed out...

Should come on when you have an object selected.

It doesn't, so I wondered if there was a way to do it...

are you sure it is greyed out - it does not have colour and you will not see it do anything unless 'show rotation handles', the button to the left, is active [also activated by double clicking object]

It remains greyed out at all times. The only indication you have that the button is working is when you click a square within the button it briefly changes colour. For more accurate control click the "show rotation handles" button and left drag the crosshairs to the desired position, inside or outside the shape.

it's not actually 'greyed out' in the meaning of that term, just grey

Ah yes, you are right. It is nearly invisible (why did they do that?!!) but it does work.

I could have sworn I tried it before and it didn't, so I had been ignoring it all this time...Glad it works!
