Question Designer Pro X: Adding Fills

I recently upgraded to Xara Designer Pro X. To my great dismay, I can't get the freaking thing to add any fills, the manual is useless on the topic, and none of the two tone fills I love so much from the earlier versions is anywhere to be found. Please advise!

See my lovely background checkerboard pattern inside the dome? Can't do it on X!

    Try four-colour repeating fill.

should be in designer pro X under 'two color shading' in fill gallery - if not you may need to click 'get fills' to download them if they have not installed from disk [can't remember]

I have X. I had Pro 6 which got corrupted and Xara's tech support couldn't get it fixed. I can do less with the new version than I did with the old. It will not get fills off the disc, internet, or from files. Useless and frustrating.

I could use some serious help here.

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.

Nothing happens when I click Get Fills. Brick, Fabric, Ground, Plant, Stone, and Wood are in the program, no others. When I click Disc Fills and it goes to the folder with all of the fills, I'll select one and Add and it will say there is no index and ask if I want to create one. When I click create it will say it can't find any suitable fills to add to the folder. These are the same fills I have used with all of the earlier Xara renditions. If I insert the CD ROM, its the same.
