Just open the 'bitmap gallery' and you'll see the photo there.
With the object you want filled 'selected'.... right click over the photo in the 'bitmap gallery' and select 'apply as fill' from the context menu. The object is filled. Now delete the orig. photo off the page.
Now you can manipulate the photo as a 'fill'.
Is this what you're looking for?

Thanks Cliff, that works so far so good, but it didn't conform to the rounded corners of the bitmap or show the bitmap outline. How do I do that?
Not quite 100% sure of what you're saying.... but if I think I know.. why not just create a rectangle, round the corners and 'apply' the image to fill that?
You can use any drawn shape, and the fill will conform to it.... And you can do any 'outline' you wish.
Yes? No?

Thanks Cliff. I have completed your instructions about filling a shape, and it worked perfectly except I don't know how to add an outline. Thanks for the tutorial on the difference between a shape and a bitmap. It's fun to come up on the learning curve.
now now, c'mon..... how to make an outline? One of the FIRST basic things in Xara.. LOL
ok... just select the object.
head down to the color bar and 'right click' a color and the object is outlined...
head up to the 'set line width' up top and choose the point size of the object...
Done....
I'm glad to offer any help... God knows I still need it here on this forum.. but....
I would suggest you take an hour or so and at least read up on some of the very basics....
But, my pleasure and best of luck....
