Sorry I'm late!

Hey, Crow—
Why do you think you're late? I just looked at my fridge calendar and it's the first day of 2014.
You think you should have posted your wonderful illustration last Hallowe'en?

True, the day is still young over here, but not so on other places on the globe. I totally missed this thread till an hour ago and had to quickly cook up another 2014 Xara image (gotta hand it to Xara, it's pretty fast to wield) just now. Glad you like it.

The images are great, and I enjoyed them, but the idea of this thread was for everyone to just post a few words at midnight on New Year's eve so if we had had enough posts from around the globe we would have had a record in this thread of the New Year arriving around the world. It was just something that I thought might be fun. Maybe next year I'll come up with something different

Frances, I'd do the same thing next year. Your idea was underpublicized and not enough lead time was there for us to see the thread, and then respond.
I suggest you do this again, and post a notice about it in November, perhaps at the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday when everyone is at home (and perhaps checking email to annoy the relatives).
Just a thought. I do like your idea.

Happy New Year to everyone, sorry two days late but been busy since New Years Eve, the Tale I will relate!
I was as usual on my comp. and it was around 9.30pm, my wife called from the kitchen to give her and a neighbor a hand with the drinks and food for the friends we had coming to celebrate the New Year. As I crossed the hallway I heard a scratching at the front door, I opened the door and in the damp dark night saw two green eyes looking at me! Suddenly the eyes shot past me and into the house. The next thing I heard was my wife saying "Awwwwwwh where did you come from cutie" I went into the living room to find my wife sat down with this lovely kitten in her lap. This kitten afterwards followed my wife everywhere so then we gave it some food and a place to sleep for the night, much to the curiosity of our three cats. Next day, New Years Day, we asked around the neighborhood if anyone was missing a kitten and all said no. I knew what was coming next before my wife asked me and so now we have four cats! Taking the kitten to the Vets. Friday for a checkup and determine what it is male or female. More money on cat food, injections etc. etc. Only joking, it is a cutie

Awwwwww what a cute kitten and heart-warming New Years story! Thanks for sharing this event with us. I have 3 cats (all rescues) and love them all dearly, as does my husband, Paul.
