Default Flash Video player on Windows 8?

Is anybody else having the devils own time of trying to get Adobe's Flash Player to work in Windows 8?

I get frequent error messages that Adobe Flash Player has crashed. I have 11.6 r602 installed which I think is the most recent and any video I try to play in Firefox, IE, or Chrome is all mumbly even though the player volume settings are set the same as any other audio settings.

You shouldn't always need to install Adobe Flash:

Adobe Flash Player is directly integrated with Google Chrome and enabled by default.

Flash Player is integrated with Internet Explorer in Windows 8. It's unnecessary to install Flash Player.

Also, there have been reports of crashes caused by AFP when installed while running the new StartUI rather than the Windows Explorer UI

OK, fine. And the only browser I have installed Flash for is Firefox. But, in all three browsers the sound on a Flash based movie sounds like someone has placed a thick pillow over the speakers. The sound is fine if I play Spotify or Rdio of any of my music on my computer. But YouTube really sounds as if its in a tube.

I had been watching YouTube on my new Windows8 machine with no problem. Yesterday I was watching a BBC programme called Countdown and IE get dying. Remembering what Sledger said I switched over to the IE app instead of the desktop version. That version worked fine. Until this thread it really hadn't registered that they were different animals. As its just a PC that is set up for watching stuff on my new TV it may take a while. Plus, I don't think I will bother switching my other PC from Windows 7.
