Not sure what you mean by a sweeping arc, and it's hard to see what's happening in that image.
Do you mean like a spiral?
Have you tried blending along a curve?

Just tried blending along a curve and it does the trick. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it I was just playing about before bedtime. Anyway thanks for that I can now go to bed a happy man..!
Ah, too early for me. You said "not just in a straight line as in the attachment"
So yes, as I mentioned - blending along a curve will do it (and as Gary has shown)
As well as fit blend to curve, once the blend is curved you also have the option of rotating the blended objects along the curve. The button for that (right next to the blend to curve button) becomes active once you have your blend fitted to the curve.
