Very sad to hear this news. Bill was a patient and generous contributor to this community and he leaves a worthy legacy in the programs and drawings he created and in the creations of the many people he helped along the way.

We'll miss his regular and thoughtful contributions. Thanks Bill!

    Rest In Peace fellow Xarian.

We'll miss him very much. He was one of the true founding core members of this community. It will never be the same without him. But the memories he left will live forever.

My condolences to Bill's family, he will be greatly missed by many. He was one of the first to welcome me to Talkgraphics and was always ready to assist if you had a problem in drawing or a computer fault even. Rest in peace Bill.

Our thoughts are with Bill's family.

I felt so honoured when Bill decided to use my drawing as his Avatar, here on TG.
I can't exactly remember when it was, but, it was a few years ago I think.
And in all that time, he never thought about changing it.
A true honour, in my books.

The TG community will miss Bill very much and it honestly feels as though a family member has gone.

Bill's last addition began with: "FORTRAN isn't completely gone "...

Maybe we should add to that: "Bill isn't completely gone" Though we will miss his contributions and his polite way to deal with others we must keep up his legacy and commitment to the users of graphics software and Xara particularly.

Though I'm missing him already and will miss his joyful comments and gimmicks I believe he taught us some good things. Just help and respect each other and let this virtual community thrive!

I'll send a postcard to his family just to support them and let them know they fostered a truly remarkable man. Please do likewise.

With sadness I discovered this post this morning,
I will remember Bill for his direct and sometimes witty help here at TG.
I for one will miss him around here.
My condolences go out to his loved ones.

I think Micheal in post 16 has got it right as when any of us use Steve's & Bill's programme when using our piece of software we will think back to what a nice and helpful gent Bill was! Sad news, that's really sad news and a young man only retiring not many months ago.

That is very sad news. He has been a reassuring, friendly, patient and helpful presence here on TG for more years than I care to remember. He was also a very valued member of our beta team, we feel we’ve lost a colleague here at Xara and we will miss him.
