BIG ISSUE PRO 8 : Page & Layer Gallery Width

I have my Page & Gallery docked at left, open all the time, and set at a specific width, about 220 pixels. No Xara buttons at the vertical left.

It stays at this width as long as I don't open a second xara file. When I do, the Page & Layer Gallery widens out on its own, to its fully extended size. I drag it back to the size I want, but as soon as I move between the open files it promptly jumps to extended size.
My start template has a Layer Gallery to the size I want, with no effect.

This never happened in any of the previous versions. It made me go back to Pro 7.

Can I do something to prevent it from expanding ?

This also happens in P&GD 2013 and it's very annoying.

I also experiment problems with the Page and layer gallery in Designer Pro 8.
The gallery doesn't stay opened at layer level even if specified in template.

I have to expand it in each new or opened document.
It wasn't like this in the previous versions.

The issue with the width of the text box snapping back to the default width, from what I can find out may be the new way the galleries are meant to behave.

Well, yes, it is AN ISSUE. And if this is MEANT to be, am I then MEANT to drop this software ?
The irritation of having to endlessly correct an obvious programming fluke !

It's not funny, it's not right, it's not minor.

FIX IT.

This is driving me crazy also. I usually keep the Page & Layer Gallery open on the right side of my left monitor at a specific width & height. When it expands, it goes partially over to the monitor to the right. Anyone find a way to lock the size?

It is annoying. Stopping to use XDP8 because of it seems a bit silly. I suspect that at some point it will be fixed and until then I will continue to take advantage of the new and or improved features.

If you undock the gallery it will stay the same width which may help ?

It will still open at page level not layer level though

Thanks, but undocking seems to have no affect. Perhaps I should have started a new thread, as my problem isn't regarding opening a new file, as the OP had mentioned. The issue to me is that it expands on it's own whenever I expand any of the objects. Then automatically collapses when I collapse a object. If I could just lock the width it would solve my issue.
