Default Finished website appears much smaller

I haven't looked up previous threads on this, I didn't know how to word it.
Why is it that the finished website appears much smaller when it is published online than when you are working on the site?

THe attached jpg shows the relative scale of it, which occupies about half of the screen. I am currently creaing a new web page, which also shows up pretty small in web preview through Designer Pro 6. The templates were directly from the xara design gallery in the program. Maybe it's just my wide screen

It would be helpful if you mentioned the pixel sizes involved.

What size did you design to?

What size (in pixels) is your display?

What size is the website shown at? (do a screengrab and measure the size of the website display)

Seeb, if you want a website that can dynamically change according to the browser width, then Xara isn't the website builder to use.

You would either have to go with a templating system, or learn a load of stuff that Xara lets you forget about.

Are we done with the original question or not?
