What I like about web page design is unlike 2D images, it is not static. You can make things happen. I had a lot of fun designing www.gwpriester.com because I was the client and I could do whatever I wanted to. So I tried to do things that were interactive with the visitor and that we not static.

IOW I had a lot of fun and got to play with the toys.

I clicked the link to your web page to see if you had fixed two little issue I have mentioned in earlier posts, namely the rollover images for two of the buttons on the home page, but I noticed the issue is still there. Either I was not clear or you feel it's a non-issue, I don't know. Please tell me...

The rollover images for the "Illustration" and "3D Stereograms" buttons are .jpegs and not .pngs like the others. As part of the text column to the right is included in the .jpeg images, there is a shift in the text which -- in my view -- detracts from the nice design of your web page. This shift is different in various browsers (IE 7 & 9, FF, Chrome) but noticeable in all of them.

PS: I know this post is off topic but it might still have some value to the OP

Well, here's a question for the Xperts.

I've been looking at some of the web themes included in XDP7.

    • There are many pages that are Rectangular and with rounded corners.

When I add a new page, of whatever size, I can't see where you can set rounded corners?!

I hope the answer is not dead easy.

    Hi Rik,

It isn't very obvious but it is very easy.

Drag and Drop a colour to the pasteboard.

Open the Page & Layer Gallery.

Expand the Background Layer. Unlock the Layer and select the rectangle with the Rectangle Tool. Click the Rounded Corner icon on the Infobar.

    Thanks very much, Bill.

I'm glad it was easy but I'm also glad that it wasn't too obvious!

    Hi Bill.

It seems that if you create a New Web Page, then there is no Background Layer to unlock?
Is there something I am not seeing?

EDIT: Sorry Bill. I forgot that you have to drop a colour on the pasteboard, first. Oops!

Right Rik seems that droppings are required to create those layers.

    Glad they aren't pigeon droppings.

Gary said that he found it shocking that I've been using Xara for some time and had not tried the web tools.

Now, I'm the one who is shocked - at how easily a page can be put together and even published from just one place!

All you do is to draw, just as you normally would and there you have it.
Well... I've still got to do the mouse-overs yet but apart from that, doing all this in Xara roughly about 100% easier than it is in FrontPage.

Took a bit of searching to get the favicon to work, and I think I got there!
It works in FireFox but not in IE.

Not totally original and not the best page you've probably ever seen, but it's a start, and I wanted to see if it's as easy as just placing things where you want.
All in all, if I had wanted to make a page like the one at: oscaruser.com, it would have taken me ages and even then I don't think I would have achieved the end result.

Now. How do you do mouse-overs?!!!
