Hi, I managed to sort the problem. I kept getting the message that the path was wrong, so I went to the Xara folder in 'Program Files' and located the relevant dll. Then I did a whole computer search for it which gave me the correct path which was a little different than the one on the forum, instead of cd Program Files (x86)\Xara\Xara_Designer_Pro_6\XaraDLLs I changed it to Xara_Photo_Graphic_Designer_Pro. I can't remember if I deleted the x86 or not - it was rather late last night... anyway that did it and then just did the regsvr bit and after a restart I had thumbnails. So thanks for the help, couldn't have sorted it otherwise!
Fraser
glad to help

In case you have lost the icons for Xara Designer Pro X, the DLL has moved to "C:\Program Files\Common Files\MAGIX Services\System\XarThumb.dll". Use the method at http://board.xara-users.info/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=152
