Best Illustrator Tutorials in 2011

Beacause of the holidays had a shot of doing a few tutorials for Illustrator and did this one on jeans but the rest of them are really good and fairly new. Found the puckering for the seams in this Jeans tutorial quite difficult and the info on the stud not there but I think that it has worked quite well. Illustrator users must be very shy Pete.

I think that image could be created very easily in Xara Designer Pro. Perhaps even better.

Come on Gary you said you could easily do it in Xara! I think you would struggle you could have a try. Bill it uses gradient mesh fills did Illy 10 (before CS) have them but I am not sure? Yes Gary, down here in the bowels of the forum it is quite quiet and nobody hardly posts.

Pete Illy 10 does have gradient mesh fills. The only problem I seem to have is with the Roughen settings shown in the tutorial, which does not produce the results shown in the tut. I will need to experiment with the settings.

Thanks for the link, Peter, I will definitely be having a go at some of these. As I mentioned in a recent thread here in the Illustrator forum, I've decided to go back to Illustrator and make a concerted effort to master at least some of its vastness.

Yes I am the same! I now have to use only Illy at work for drawing and it is very seldom I use anything else than the Pen & Text Tools, Pathfinder, Object menu and Select menu for Same & Object as my work flow is very simple. I have work mates that use CS5 and have not used transparencies, gradient meshes, the blob tool and the eraser I always reg them that they should still be using Version 8.

Pretty neat tutorials! Not all of them are that interesting, though. Some look pretty awesome to try out, but the others don't really seem worth the effort of doing. Nice jeans!
