    Default colour swatches in CS3

I have just reinstalled CS3 after upgrading my OS to Windows 7.

In the 'swatches' palette, the greys now appear as shades of brown - not grey.

I'm sure there must be an option somewhere to correct this but as yet I have been unable to find it!!

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Mike

first place I'd start is :

right click on your desktop > personalise > display > claibrate color

and see if that fixes it

[you may need to change your monitor color profile]

    Thanks for your reply....

Greys generally display ok, it's just in the colour swatches they appear brown. If I click on the colour in the 'tools' palette to bring it up in the 'colour picker' it still appears brown in there.

so if you apply a 'brown' swatch colour to a drawing say, it dispays the 'correct' shade of grey in the drawing?

    No, brown.

If I then save the image as a jpeg and open it in Windows Photo Viewer, it still shows as brown. If I email the jpeg to my laptop and open it in that it shows the correct shade of grey.

I guess that points, as you said earlier, to the monitor but I doubted that because other grey items on the screen display ok!

    You were right!

Just been playing around with colour profiles and added Adobe RGB which has done the trick.

Many thanks indeed for your help!
