Version 7 Installation With Version 6 / Upgrade ? Over ? How?

Hi Everyone,

I have been using version 6 for a while now for design and web design.
Love it.

I just upgraded to version 7. But I am MID project on several jobs.

If I install Version 7 OVER version 6 what will happen, will I keep all my settings, pallettes, plugins?
Or do I have to completely remove and re-install everything along with my plugins..

Any ideas?

they can reside together you don't have to remove 6...that was the way with designer Pro

Unless hard disk space is an issue, I would install v7 in its own folder. You can always uninstall v6 later.

You'll pretty much have to replace settings and toolbars anyway. Trying to keep them from one version to another isn't recommended.

Palettes you can just copy into the v7 Palettes folder.

As for plugins, you might want to keep all your plugins in a separate, central folder that isn't a subfolder for any application. That way, you can point multiple applications to the Plugins folder, and you don't have to reinstall.

As far as I am aware, version 7 installs as a separate item.
I have Designer Pro 6 and Designer Pro 7 installed on the same computer.
I have had no problems accessing any of the plug-ins. If you do, you can set this in Options - Effects & plugins tab.
My location is set as C:\Program Files\Xara\Xara Designer Pro 6\Plug-ins\

Your location for plugins might be slightly diferent but it's not too difficult to find and set.

So, you can see that I have 6 and 7 installed, though I have been using 7 ever since its release.

Might uninstall 6 at some stage!
